LingoLearn BN is a browser extension by ANSNEW TECH. that translates text you select on a webpage and reads it aloud. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the extension processes. The short version:

We collect nothing. The only information that ever leaves your browser is the exact text you select, sent to Google Translate's public service to produce your translation. It is not stored, not shared with anyone else, and not used for any other purpose.

1. Text you select

When you select text on a page, that text (trimmed to the length limit configured in the extension's settings) is sent over an encrypted connection to Google Translate's public endpoint (translate.googleapis.com, with clients5.google.com as a fallback) to generate the translation and pronunciation you asked for. This happens only in direct response to your action. We do not see, log, or retain any of this content — it flows from your browser directly to the translation service.

2. Settings and preferences

Your preferences (target language, voice, speech rate, feature toggles, theme, excluded-site list) are saved in your browser's own extension storage (chrome.storage / browser.storage). They never leave your device and are not transmitted to us or to any third party.

3. What we do not do

No accounts, sign-ins, or registration.
No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking.
No advertising or data sales.
No collection of browsing history, personal information, or page content beyond the text you explicitly select.
No remote code — everything the extension runs ships inside the package you installed.

4. Permissions and why they exist

Access to websites — required to detect text you select on a page and show the popup next to it.
Translate hosts — required to request the translation of your selected text.
Storage — required to remember your settings between sessions.

5. Third-party service

Translation requests are processed by Google's public translation service. Their handling of request data is governed by Google's own privacy policy. We send them only the selected text, with no identifiers, cookies, or account information attached.

6. Children's privacy

The extension is safe for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

7. Changes to this policy

If the extension's data practices ever change, this page will be updated with a new "last updated" date.
